17. John von Neumann

1. John von Neumann is player in all directions and a Hungarian-American mathematician who made contributions to quantum physics, functional analysis, set theory, topology, computer science, economics, numerical analysis, hydrodynamics, statistics…

2. In 1936. and 1938. the ideas of Alana Turing and John von Neumann have came across each other. John enjoyed extravagant parties and fast and dangerous car rides. He liked to eat, to drink (it was said that he knew how to count everything except calories), to tell dirty stories and jokes (for example: Bodily violence is a displeasure done with the intention of giving pleasure) and persistently gaze at the legs of young women, so much so that female secretaries at Los Alamos often covered up the exposed undersides of their desks with cardboard.
